Round Hang Hole or Euro Slot?
A hang hole pouch uses a punched opening in the sealed header so the filled pack can be displayed on a retail hook. Round holes are a compact direction for compatible single hooks; Euro slots provide a wider opening for some retail fixtures. The retailer fixture, filled pack and available header area should determine the final geometry rather than a universal hole size.
Inputs That Determine the Hole Design
- Retail hook or peg shape, width, depth and required loading direction.
- Filled weight, product movement, headspace and expected display duration.
- Pouch width, laminate, thickness and tear resistance around the header.
- Top-seal width and the positions of zipper, tear notch and opening grip area.
- Artwork safe area, hole centerline and whether packs must face consistently on the fixture.
Header Layout and China OEM Handover
Lock the top seal first, then place the zipper and tear notch where applicable, reserve structural material around the opening, and keep critical artwork outside the punch area. The approved dieline should show hole shape and dimensions, centerline, distance to the finished edge, top seal, zipper and tear notch. A nominated China filling factory should receive the same signed drawing and confirm that filling and final sealing do not damage or obstruct the header.
Filled-Pack Hanging Test and Failure Checks
Test production-representative filled pouches on the intended hook or a documented equivalent. Check loading ease, pack orientation, hole elongation, edge cracking, laminate delamination, top-seal distortion and tearing after repeated handling. Increase in film thickness alone does not guarantee hanging strength; geometry, laminate, seal layout and load distribution must be assessed together.
