How Article 6 Stages Recyclability Requirements
PPWR introduces design-for-recycling assessment from the 2030 stage and recycled-at-scale assessment from the 2035 stage, subject to the dates and implementing measures in Article 6. Final category-specific criteria and assessment rules should be checked before assigning a grade.
Mono-Material Direction Is Not an Automatic Grade
The complete packaging unit matters. Films, coatings, inks, adhesives, zippers, valves, spouts, caps and labels should be identified instead of treating a broad material name as proof of grade A, B or C.
Compare Structure, Product Protection and Machine Behavior
PE-based and PP-based directions may be evaluated, but heat resistance, sealing, stiffness, puncture, barrier, appearance and equipment performance still need project-specific confirmation.
Keep Recyclability and Performance Evidence Together
Record the bill of materials, component weights, assessment method and version, supporting tests, sample trials and controlled changes. A recyclability review does not replace food-contact, chemical-safety or shelf-life validation.

Questions fréquentes
Is a mono PE pouch automatically PPWR grade A?
No. The complete packaging unit and the applicable category-specific assessment criteria must be reviewed.
What is the difference between design for recycling and recycled at scale?
Design for recycling evaluates technical design criteria, while recycled at scale adds evidence of actual collection, sorting and recycling at the required scale.
Do zippers and spouts affect recyclability review?
They can. Their material, weight, attachment and separation behavior should be included in the complete-package review.
What should buyers collect?
Collect the bill of materials, layer and component weights, specifications, assessment method, tests, validation results and change records.
