Why is aluminum foil packaging more expensive?
Aluminum foil as a material layer costs more than standard polymer films. The lamination process for AL structures also requires more precise control. However, AL provides the strongest oxygen, moisture and aroma barrier, which is necessary for products like coffee, milk powder and long shelf life food.
Is VMPET cheaper than aluminum foil?
VMPET is generally less expensive than aluminum foil. VMPET provides improved light and moisture barrier through a metallized coating on PET film, while aluminum foil is a separate metal layer. VMPET is a good middle option when improved barrier is needed but full aluminum foil is not required.
Why does MOQ affect packaging price?
Custom packaging has fixed preparation costs — cylinder engraving, material minimum order quantities, machine setup and changeover. These costs are distributed across the order quantity. A larger order spreads costs over more units, reducing unit price. A smaller order concentrates costs on fewer units.
Does more printing color increase cost?
Yes. Each printing color in gravure printing requires a separate cylinder. More colors mean more cylinders, more setup time and higher preparation cost. For repeat orders, cylinders are reused so the per-color cost impact is only on the first order.
Are kraft paper bags more expensive than standard plastic pouches?
Kraft paper bags can be more or less expensive depending on the inner barrier structure. Kraft/PE may be moderate in cost, while Kraft/AL/PE with multiple layers will be higher. The kraft paper itself is not necessarily expensive, but the full laminated structure determines the cost.
