BOPP Film for Food Packaging
BOPP is biaxially oriented polypropylene film used in snack, biscuit, candy, bakery and label applications. It can provide clarity, stiffness, print presentation and machine runnability, but BOPP names a film family rather than one guaranteed specification. Buyers should confirm grade, treatment, sealability, coating, thickness and the complete laminate.

What BOPP Contributes to Flexible Packaging
Orientation gives BOPP useful stiffness, dimensional stability and optical properties for many high-speed packaging applications. Transparent, matte, heat-sealable, coated and metallized grades behave differently. A property stated for one grade should not be assumed for another.
BOPP Is Not Automatically the Sealing Layer
Some coextruded or coated BOPP grades are designed to heat seal, while other BOPP films are used mainly as printable or supporting layers and need CPP, PE or another compatible sealant. Confirm which surface seals, the intended seal window and whether the material is supplied as a single web or part of a laminate.
Common Structure Directions
- BOPP/CPP for selected snack, biscuit and candy roll-film applications
- BOPP/PE where the complete laminate and sealant fit the product and machine
- Metallized BOPP-containing structures where improved light or moisture protection is being evaluated
- Special coated or heat-sealable BOPP grades for application-specific single-web use
Buyer Checks for Automatic Packing Film
Confirm web width, repeat length, unwind direction, eye mark, core ID, roll diameter, COF, film tension, print treatment, sealant side and operating speed. Use a production-representative line trial when changing grade or structure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does BOPP mean?
BOPP means biaxially oriented polypropylene, a PP film stretched in two directions to develop useful optical and mechanical properties.
Can all BOPP film be heat sealed?
No. Sealability depends on the grade and coating or coextruded seal layer. Confirm the technical data and sealing surface.
Is BOPP suitable for high-barrier food packaging?
Some coated or metallized BOPP grades improve specific barrier properties, but the required complete structure depends on the product and shelf-life target.
What data is needed for BOPP roll film?
Provide the product, machine, web width, repeat, unwind, eye mark, core, roll limits, seal conditions, barrier target and quantity per artwork.
Need to Review a BOPP Packaging Structure?
Send the product, complete structure if known and packing-machine data. Huasheng Packaging can review whether a BOPP-containing direction may fit the project.
