What is PET/VMPET/PE Packaging?
PET/VMPET/PE is a three-layer laminated structure:
- PET (polyester) is commonly used as the outer printable layer, providing printing surface and stiffness.
- VMPET (vacuum metallized PET) is PET film with a thin metal coating. It is not real aluminum foil, but it provides metallic appearance and improved moisture and light barrier compared with non-metallized structures.
- PE (polyethylene) is commonly used as the inner heat sealing layer, providing heat seal strength and food contact surface.
VMPET should not be confused with aluminum foil. While both can provide metallic appearance, their barrier levels and cost structures are different. The final structure should be confirmed according to product requirements.
